From Drowning to Permission-Filled: Sammiy’s Story

When Sammiy joined the very first cohort of Permission to Be, she wasn’t looking for a business strategy or a productivity hack. She wasn’t even sure what she needed.
What she did know was this: she was drowning.
“I was so lost,” she told me.
At the time, Sammiy was a new mom and a military spouse, trying to keep a small family farm running. A lifelong horsewoman, she had recently stepped away from her teaching community—the people who had been her world for so long. The roles she had once held with confidence no longer felt like hers.
“I had no idea what I wanted to do. I’d been a nanny, taught riding lessons, did VA work for years. But I didn’t know who I was anymore. My identity had disappeared. My mental health was poor. Life at home was hard. It was the tail end of COVID. I just knew I needed something.”
The Turning Point
Like many of us, Sammiy had signed up for her fair share of online programs, bought the courses, downloaded the PDFs, and abandoned them halfway through. She calls herself “a shiny-object person.”
But Permission to Be felt different.
“Even though I didn’t totally get what it was… I knew this was the answer.”
Sometimes that’s how transformation begins: not with clarity, but with curiosity and quiet trust.

What She Didn’t Expect (But Deeply Needed)
Yes, she loved the structure of the program. The tools. The thoughtful accountability. But there was one thing that surprised her the most.
“I’m a hardcore introvert, and I had lost my people when I gave up teaching lessons. Suddenly I had this group of individuals who were with me, on the good days and the hard ones. We were doing it together. And that made all the difference.”
Community, connection, being witnessed, these are powerful, often underestimated ingredients in real transformation.
The After
Since her first round of Permission to Be, Sammiy has:
✨ Reclaimed her voice
✨ Built a thriving business with multiple arms (Virtual Services, Farm Goods, and Laser Creations)
✨ And most importantly, as she says:
“I gave myself permission to put myself on the list. I wasn’t even on the flipping list before.”
Today, Sammiy is not just a graduate of the program. She’s an integral part of my team. She’s been through Permission to Be twice, and she’s coming back for a third round.
Why?
“Each round deepens the roots. I’m still learning. Still growing. It’s changed my life and I get something new every time.”
This Isn’t Just Her Story
Sammiy’s story is deeply personal. But it’s also familiar.
If you’ve ever found yourself feeling like you’ve disappeared in the roles you’ve taken on… If you’ve ever looked around and realized you’re not even on your own list… If you’ve been in survival mode for so long that you’ve forgotten how to dream…
This isn’t about another productivity program. It’s about permission. To slow down. To remember. To reconnect. To come home to yourself.
That’s what Permission to Be offers.
Enrollment is now open.
The next cohort begins the week of June 2nd
