Last week I shared my journey to only natural shampoo bars.
In 2020 I made the full leap and never looked back, until…
A couple years in, I found out the little shop I ordered from wasn’t carrying them anymore.
😭All that hard work to get my hair adjusted what if I couldn’t find something else that checked all the boxes?
Ok, breathe Cait.
Ask if she’ll give you the name of the company.
Phew she did.
And now I’m ordering direct from the woman that makes them.
Crisis averted.
Until….A year later, they decide to pivot their entire business + not make them.
So I do what any sane person does and buys out as many as I can at the discount.
I’m set.
Until I realize a year later - I’m running out.
Maybe she’ll sell me the recipe.
Let me ask!
Turns out she’s is.
I immediately buy it.
I’ve never made soap.
But I can do this, I’ve taught myself so many things.
Heck this year I built a chicken coop with no experience.
But as I watch the bars in my stockpile dwindle month by month- I just can’t seem to carve out the time to learn the process or try it.
And I can feel my stress slowly building.
What if I run out and haven’t been able to make them yet?
And then I finally have a get real conversation with myself.
When I see all the ways I’m holding myself back.
Just like I see so many of my clients do in business.
So I pause, get clear in what I need, and start researching other shampoo bars.
And I order a new one to try from a lovely homesteading mama in PA.
And guess what it works beautifully.
And I still have the recipe to make for mine when I have the time and space.
Here’s a few of the lessons I learned along the way.
🌻 when in doubt ask for what you need-you may just get it!
🌻 don’t get so caught up in only one way of doing things.
🌻 all or nothing thinking limits innovation and other possibilities.
🌻 there’s some really cool women business owners out there that want to help.
🌻 sometimes we need an in between solution.
🌻 stop making it more complicated
🌻 get clear on what you need
